Partners: Lambeth Council, Spiral
Meanwhile Space partnered with Spiral Skills (a Lambeth-based social enterprise supporting young people with careers education) to explore the viability of a dedicated enterprise and support space for Lambeth’s young people. The brief was to work in partnership with local young people to develop a vision for a dedicated professional environment supporting career paths, skills growth and the provision of business opportunity to an under-represented audience.
Project research was carried out in partnership with Spiral Skills Young Leaders, many of whom have first-hand experience of the barriers faced by young people in the community. Feasibility work included exploration into potential buildings and sites, best practice design, business and operational review, and social value potential. Collaborative knowledge-building was at the heart of this project, with a series of workshops and one-to-one conversations held with both Lambeth’s young people and youth sector organisations. Funded by the Future Workspace Fund (FWF) concept development grant, the project ultimately produced an ambitious yet achievable vision for the proposed enterprise hub.
