The Hithe is the site of a new Meanwhile use work and community hub in the north of Southwark.
Sitting on the edge of the Rotherhithe tunnel this innovative, demountable structure which was designed by IF_DO architects opened in autumn of 2021 and provides affordable workspace, a social meeting room and a community yard.

The Hithe is home to a temporary and demountable workspace hub. Set to be in place for 10 years, Meanwhile Space worked alongside Southwark Council and IF_DO architecture. We aim to deliver a project that has creativity and community at the heart of it.
With 10 incubator spaces, all with their own front doors, The Hithe provides affordable workspace for local start-up businesses looking for space to grow and develop; supporting the creation and retainment of jobs in the area. It is our hope that in addition to the workspaces and incubator units, public activities and skill-sharing partnerships will bring vibrancy to the site and the area as a whole.​
