Carlton Kitchen

Carlton Kitchen, Canterbury Terrace, South Kilburn NW6 5DX August 2013

Meanwhile Space were employed by Brent Council to test uses and facilitate the re-use of a conventional building in South Kilburn that was not effectively serving the local community. Carlton Kitchen was developed to provide access to quality facilities for a variety of food-based community uses and make a unique contribution to South Kilburn. The space hosted community events and food skills workshops, including bread making and a young people’s food academy, as well as supper clubs and a winter food market. After a successful 6 months meanwhile project, the space is now managed by local regeneration charity, the South Kilburn Trust and is home to local businesses Kosher Roast and Growing Kultur, and charity Sufra NW London. These start-up enterprises were our resident foodies and have been growing their businesses from the space as well as offering a variety of community events and initiatives.
