The project was delivered in collaboration with Lambeth Council, Architecture 00, and the GLA.
A multi-use site housing retail, studios, offices, a kitchen and coffee roastery, connected by a yard and growing space managed by Loughborough Farm. Meanwhile Space managed the development delivery team from conception to launch, overseeing community engagement, design, fit-out, tenanting and now manage the site. The operation has been designed in a way that will ultimately handover the management to a community group.

Meanwhile Space was commissioned to develop strategies to shape the development of two sites within Clarion’s Merton Estates Regeneration Project. We hosted collaborative design workshops to develop proposals to address the needs of both existing and incoming communities, whilst reflecting Clarion’s priorities. Proposals were mapped against site phasing and feasibility reports presenting operational viability and business case analysis alongside social value and legacy opportunities. Proposed uses include retail incubation, F&B and leisure including gardening and play.
Meanwhile Space was commissioned to develop strategies to shape the development of two sites within Clarion’s Merton Estates Regeneration Project.
Commissioned by Southwark Council to activate a vacant site for a 10-year meanwhile use period, The Hithe is a purpose-built, demountable building containing studio and office spaces, a communal area and a community garden. Working alongside our partners at IF_DO, the project sensitively navigated complex structural requirements, which resulted in a highly innovative design.
